AIDA is an acronym that means: Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action. AIDA is a framework used in marketing, copywriting, and user experience design that outlines the four stages that a customer goes through from the moment they are exposed to a trigger, usually an advertisement, to the moment they are inspired to take action and generate a conversion. In short, the AIDA framework is a way to understand buying behavior.
AIDA can be applied to a conversion funnel as a series of steps performed by a customer.
The 4 stages of AIDA are:
Attention: This is the initial step when an advertisement focuses on capturing a person's attention to move them to the next stage, like continuing interacting with a webpage or continuing moving along in a conversion funnel.
Interest: Is about generating enough motivation within a prospect that makes them want to learn more about a product.
Desire: Desire is when a prospect gets interested in a product enough that they start considering making a purchase.
Action: this is the stage when a prospect decides to take action and triggers a conversion finally. These conversion actions can be anything from signing up for an email newsletter to buying a product.
